This is a Flight Training Coverall created in tribute to the Apollo 1 astronauts. During a preflight test on January 27, 1967 for what was to be the first crewed Apollo mission, a fire swept through the command module and claimed the lives of three U.S. astronauts; Virgil (Gus) Grissom, Edward White and Roger Chaffee. The mission was to be the first crewed flight of Apollo, and was scheduled to launch Feb. 21, 1967.
The sage green coverall is based on an authentic USAF K-2B flight training suit, manufactured by Mason & Hughes, Inc. in 1960, and is made of 100% cotton twill. This garment has been cleaned and is in excellent used condition. Pre-existing tears have been professionally repaired, and there are no stains or faded areas. All zippers and snaps are fully-functional. The official Apollo 1 patch is on the right breast, and the official 1960's era NASA logo patch is on the left breast. An American flag patch is on the upper left arm. All patches were acquired from an official NASA provider and have been professionally sewn into place. It's a great fit for anyone in the 140lb - 165lb range, who is between 5'6" and 5'9 1/2" tall.
