Growing up in the U.S. in the 1960s and 1970s, many folks became engrossed the ever-evolving age of space exploration. Due to the popularity of the Apollo Missions, Marathon gas stations began giving away Libbey glassware featuring colorful illustrations of these missions to consumers. Kids and adults alike enjoyed these glassware sets whether for a collectible display or for serving Tang at their next get-together (maybe during coverage of an upcoming rocket launch).
These two glasses, decked out patriotically in red, white, and blue feature Apollo Mission 13. Around each glass, it says one side, "SAFE RETURN, A TRIUMPH OF COURAGE INGENUITY TEAMWORK, April 17, 1970." As one turns the glass, the reader will see a beautiful illustration of the Aquarius craft traveling through space, followed by "USA."
