It is not advisable to wash an aran sweater in a washing machine. Washing wool sweaters in a washing machine can cause them to shrink, lose shape and wear faster. It is very tightly knitted. The right shoulder is very tightly knitted and a little misshapened (pictured). I suspect it will all loosen once hand washed properly, but make no guarantees.
