Beautiful antique single-strand necklace of graduated jade green glass and rootbeer glass beads that, in the front of the necklace, are faceted, and around the back, are smooth green glass tubes and rootbeer glass disks. To complete the circle, in between these gorgeous old hand-worked glass beads are 16x creamy small linen-colored round faceted molded glass spacer beds and 16x round dark brown dense plastic spacer beads. This original necklace, unmarked, was likely made in Germany or Czechoslovakia in the 1920s or early 1930s. It is Art Deco in style; the colorway of jade green and rootbeer implies early 1930s. It is strung on doubled thread and is well made; the thread is in good condition, the ends are glued as well as tied in the metal loop findings. It is fairly clean, implying it was lightly worn and well kept. The clasp consists of two green tube beads with faceted ends, with threaded centers for the screw post. In the way of some old clasps, this double screw clasp has a center post that comes out entirely and screws into both sides of the clasp (see pictures); it is secure. One end could be dabbed with glue if this is a concern. 20-1/4" wearable length. Excellent condition with a few minor flea bites on bead ends, from gentle wearing, and a very nice patina. This period necklace hangs well and looks beautiful when worn. Perfect colors for any season. Timeless!
