Fakes are really easy to spot when you know what you’re looking for and there are several of them listed on his platform. It doesn’t take a collector to Spot these cheap copies! The biggest telltale sign the bag is fake will be a round magnetic snap. Also, the braiding on the fakes always starts to chip after a few months. You can also tell from the leather and if it has a waxy finish. If it looks plastic it is plastic. Be a smart consumer! A simple google search to see what the bag of selling for and what a real one looks like will help you avoid having your time wasted waiting for an evaluation and a refund

tiffany2727 Another telltale sign of a fake is the interior leather tag. It will never have rounded corners. The corners are 90° and the stamp is not huge. It should not take up the entire tag. Also, there’s a very specific font for the style numbers on the back. Again, a simple Google search and you’ll be able to see what the real one looks like and the fakes will stand out. The font is always huge and nowhere close to the real thing

tiffany2727 Another sign of a fake is the interior is faded. The real thing doesn’t fade like an old T-shirt. It also doesn’t ball up like an old sweater. It stays bright and vibrant as pictured above even with years and years and years of use

tiffany2727 Sadly, there are too many people that end up buying a fake and have to go through the refund process and that’s if it’s caught as being fake. It’s just as easy to have an item evaluate it before purchasing on posh that way you know exactly what you’re getting. Also, report fake bags when you see them! I regularly report dishonest sellers but Posh can’t remove them all in time

tiffany2727
tiffany2727 And just FYI, I don’t sell my collection. I’ve collected them for a reason and hate seeing buyers get taken for a ride because a seller either doesn’t know if a bag is authentic and doesn’t feel like taking the time to have a check or is Simply hoping you don’t know any better

tiffany2727
tiffany2727 There are some really beautiful, 100% authentic versions of this bag listed from different sellers in both the large & medium size (and it was only made in two sizes. The medium has a zipper and the large has no closure, just a braided edge) * Unfortunately, there are also at least seven fakes in the large size that I found with just a little bit of scrolling. Be smart
Apr 01Reply
tiffany2727
tiffany2727 Also, always look very closely at the braiding. The braiding will be tight and very close together. There will not be gaps in between. There’s a black fake version listed for sale where you can definitely see the difference

tiffany2727
tiffany2727 Another benefit of familiarizing yourself with the real thing is that you will know exactly what these bags are selling for on the resale market. In excellent to mint condition, the canvas can sell for $1000 plus. In excellent to mint condition in leather, anywhere from $1000-$1800.
Apr 01Reply
tiffany2727
tiffany2727 That is in the large size. In the medium size, anywhere from 350 to 850 in the canvas
Apr 01Reply
tiffany2727
tiffany2727 Actually, I have counted 13 fakes in the large size just now. There are likely more and I’ll have been reported

beautifynails Hello there. So nice to meet you here. I love the beautiful and cute nail art. I hope you love too. Hope you have fun here. All the best.

tiffany2727
tiffany2727 If you see a bag that has sold and is fake, you can still report it. Fakes are not allowed to be sold on the platform and per customer service, they still want to know if users are doing it

tiffany2727 Black bags have black stitching. Brown bags have brown stitching. People out here trying to sell you fake Gucci simila leather bags were they didn’t even bother to hide the snap and put it right on the outside. Plus a Google search will help you familiarize yourself with the real thing. The strap is short. If you see one that’s hanging down to the persons waist, it’s a fake

tiffany2727 Before you buy the Gucci horsebit hobo, whether here or on another site, make sure you at least do a Google search to know what the real thing looks like. There are some bad fakes being sold right now here on PM. Hopefully their authentication service will catch it but these sellers are ridiculous. They are hoping you have no idea with the real thing looks like

angeliquecarney
angeliquecarney @tiffany2727 thank you for these insightful tips! I’ve been wanting a Gucci horse it hobo ( just like the ones you pictured) for awhile but can’t find one that I like ( I love yours). Hopefully I won’t get scammed.
Jul 20Reply
tiffany2727
tiffany2727 @angeliquecarney Honestly, the fakes are really easy to spot if you know what to look for. Do your research looking at the real thing and that is a huge help. You can Google how to spot a fake horsebit hobo and there’s at least a couple of YouTube videos plus pictures speak 1000 words
Jul 20Reply
tiffany2727
tiffany2727 I love when a seller gets mad when they are called out for listing a fake then blocks me from responding. It costs $15 to have an item evaluated b4 listing it for sale. Why waste ur buyers time by relying on PM to do what the seller should do! If you can’t be bothered, don’t sell😉 AND THE FAKES ARE SOOOO OBVIOUS. If you know what to look for, there is no way you will ever mistake a fake one for a real one
Jul 26Reply
angeliquecarney
angeliquecarney @tiffany2727 there is a small white horsebit Gucci listed on Posh. Can you tell me what you think? I’d love to read your opinion.
Jul 26Reply
tiffany2727
tiffany2727 @angeliquecarney No, sorry. I not going to evaluate sellers items on Posh. Of course if I see a fake I have no problem commenting in case the seller does not know but my post is rather to give others information needed to safely purchase an authentic item. The whole point of the information is so that you don’t ever have to take someone’s opinion on whether or not a bag is real and rather can take the proper steps to know before hand.
Jul 26Reply
tiffany2727
tiffany2727 You can simply Google reputable luxury authentication services and by going to their individual websites, will know exactly what they need to evaluate an item and how much they charge for the service
Jul 26Reply
tiffany2727
tiffany2727 It’s also funny when you comment that item is not authentic because it clearly it’s not and he Seller flips out telling you I don’t know what you’re talking about and that you’re harassing them. Ironically, one of the people that got really upset that I commented that her bag was clearly fake days later sold the bag and in the comments the seller told her they found out it was fake and she told that person to stop insulting her🤦🏻‍♀️
Aug 10Reply
tiffany2727
tiffany2727 FYI, I do not authenticate other sellers items on this platform. My point in this post is to provide you with information that could help you spot the fakes but I always recommend having an evaluation performed by a third-party before purchasing. And report fakes!
Aug 18Reply
tiffany2727
tiffany2727 I can’t say it enough! Just because you bought it on this platform doesn’t mean it’s real! Every buyer has the ability to have an item evaluated for authenticity before spending their money on it! Why rely on Posh if a fake was allowed to be listed on their platform anyway
Aug 20Reply
tiffany2727
tiffany2727 And it should go without saying, Gucci has never sold this bag with a fake satin lining that is stamped with the word Gucci all over it! You’re also not going to see a plastic zipper in this bag. As mentioned, a simple Google search will give you a knowledge base to at least be able to spot the really bad ones
Aug 20Reply
tiffany2727
tiffany2727 I’m just FYI, if you are a reputable buyer or seller, you should absolutely be bothered by fakes that are listed on this platform. It’s sort of the whole point so it’s funny when people tell you to mind your own business. It is my business if I buy or sell in a place it’s not supposed to have fakes and yet they are allowed or overlooked. SIMPLE
Aug 28Reply
tiffany2727
tiffany2727 Just a reminder… This bag will always have a style number of six digits on the top and six digits on the bottom. They will also be in a very specific size and font and deeply embosssed into the leather. These are not serial numbers. That means that both style codes are unique to this bag
Sep 06Reply
tiffany2727
tiffany2727 With a simple Goog (Internet) search, You will get lots of results. Take the top six results and all of those style codes should be the same. You will also be able to see the very particular font that GUCCI uses. With so much information available at all of our fingertips, don’t let these people posting fake give you false information
Sep 06Reply
tiffany2727
tiffany2727 Anytime you’re purchasing a preowned luxury item, you should have a ballpark as to what they are selling for. When the threshold to have an item authenticated by Posh is $500, you should wonder why an item is priced under 500 if it is selling for significantly more everywhere else!
Sep 10Reply
tiffany2727
tiffany2727 And if the seller has other items in their closet, take a look to see what they have sold in the past. There are people trying to sell this bag right now that have multiple fakes listed for sale as well as in their sold items. That is the 1st red flag. That means they disregard the guidelines for selling on the platform
Sep 10Reply
tiffany2727
tiffany2727 And be careful. Anytime someone says they are not sure of authenticity because they bought it from someone else, you can bet they know exactly if it’s authentic or not. If you want to be a seller, pay the money to have an item evaluated and if you want to sell fakes, have a garage sale
Sep 11Reply
tiffany2727
tiffany2727 Three new counterfeit versions of this bag were listed yesterday. They are not hard to spot but be careful
Sep 11Reply
tiffany2727
tiffany2727 And if someone states in the comments that they don’t have the authenticity card, who cares. No one evaluates for authenticity using the card. That just tells you the person doesn’t know anything about the back. Also, Seller just told me that the Poshmark team told her it had been purchased from the Gucci store This bag is not going to be sold for under $500 unless it is beat up and even then be suspicious if someone doesn’t want Posh to evaluate it for authenticity before it gets to you
Sep 11Reply
tiffany2727
tiffany2727 When you ask a seller, which you are allowed to do, if an item is authentic, I believe it is should not be a response. If you are selling on any platform you should take the time to make sure that item is authentic and that is easily done by paying a minimal fee to a third-party Authenticator that will give you paperwork saying they have a valuated it. It’s simple
Sep 13Reply
tiffany2727
tiffany2727 And never believe Posh said it was real. That is the lazy way of selling things. Two different sellers in two different days about two different bags have told me Posh told me it was real when they are clearly selling fake. This is ridiculous
Sep 13Reply
tiffany2727
tiffany2727 Be careful. There are some really interesting people on this platform. I report every fake I see and every fake should bother buyers and sellers on this platform. I don’t wanna buy junk and I don’t wanna sell my items on a platform that allows junk to be listed. That’s what fakes are….junk. Don’t let dishonest try to steal your money! You can have an item evaluated for authenticity by a third-party before or after purchase!!! The sale of counterfeit goods is illegal
Sep 13Reply
tiffany2727
tiffany2727 There’s a fake listed right now where they just sold this same bag as a fake three months ago. People, just take a second to look. These types of people think they are slick but they always leave clues as to what they’re doing
Sep 13Reply
tiffany2727
tiffany2727 I knew it was only a matter of time before a fake pink one popped up
Sep 18Reply
tiffany2727
tiffany2727 4 more knock off versions of this bag have been listed in the last month & all have been reported
Nov 17Reply
tiffany2727
tiffany2727 I just posted a picture of a 100% authentic floral Gucci horsebit hobo tag. Gucci uses a very specific font & font size. That’s not up for debate. Sellers will try but details don’t lie

redneps
redneps Thank you for your information. I made the mistake of purchasing the lg pink hobo. I am in the process of proving to poshmark that it is not authentic. Thank you so much for your message to me.
Feb 09Reply
tiffany2727
tiffany2727 @redneps i'm so sorry that happened. I give sellers the benefit of the doubt and tell them when a bag is not authentic. I usually get told to get a life & that im just mad because I can't afford the bag🤪😂 Its ridiculous that these scammers het away with trying to steal ur money. Have it evaluated by a reputable third-party resale authentication company and you will get your money back.
Feb 09Reply
redneps
redneps I have submitted photos of the bag and screen shot of the seller stating it is authentic. Should i go ahead and have someone authenticate it? or do you think PM is able to be trusted to know the real thing?
Feb 09Reply
tiffany2727
tiffany2727 @redneps it's hard to say. I would pay the 15 or $20 to have it evaluated just so there's no chance they don't side with you. Honestly, I report these bags dozens of times and they are not removed so it's hard for me to trust that PM will know
Feb 09Reply
tiffany2727
tiffany2727 @redneps and these people should be kicked off the platform. They know it's fake when they're selling it. They just hope they get away with it. The resale on this bag is double what they originally sold for, but they make sure to price them low enough that they don't have to be sent off to be checked. It's dishonest and why so many people have a hard time buying luxury resale.
Feb 09Reply
tiffany2727
tiffany2727 The only reason why I would have it checked is that she is likely going to say she doesn't believe it to be counterfeit, so it would just be up to the person reviewing the claim to decide. They all play stupid when they get caught.
Feb 09Reply
redneps
redneps online, I see realauthentication.com. In your opinion, is that a good authenticator?
Feb 09Reply
tiffany2727
tiffany2727 @redneps I don't know anything about them specifically. There are lots of great ones out there. I've heard of them, but you can look at reviews and pricing. You can also reach out to them and ask them about their experience in situations where claims have to be filed.
Feb 10Reply
tiffany2727
tiffany2727 @redneps I hate that your seller is making you go through that. They should just agree to a refund and take their bag back.

cutehosiery
cutehosiery Hey,there. You bring sunshine to the Poshmark Family. I like men's style jewelry. Because they bring me good luck. I hope the luck will always be with you. Happy Poshing.
May 15Reply
tiffany2727
tiffany2727 I don't understand why Seller can't be bothered to have an idea valuated if they don't know how to tell a real one from a fake one. It's the price of doing business.
Jun 09Reply
tiffany2727
tiffany2727 It's really sad that some people are unaware of the fact that you can absolutely tell when a bag is fake without having to have it in your hands. If you know what to look for, it's not difficult to spot a fake. It's really funny when someone asks how you can tell the real thing from a fake and then block you before you can answer that very easy question.
