Samuel Weller made pottery dating back to 1872 in Fultonham, Ohio. In 1882 he moved his pottery business to Zanesville,Ohio. They closed down completely in 1940 and have since become some of the most sought after American pottery to date.
This piece was cast with a shiny finish on a pink background with raised yellow flowers with green leaves
.
Weller signed his pieces with both the name Weller or USA followed by 5 characters. The reason local artisan chose to incorporate USA into the trademark was to differentiate their pottery as not being imported !
