Authentic vintage George Nelson MCM Saucer bubble pendant lamp

With its wide shape, soft, flowing lines and tendency to float overhead while providing an ethereal glow, the Nelson™ Saucer Bubble Pendant makes an elegantly whimsical reference to its UFO namesake. Designer George Nelson developed the Bubble Pendant Lamps series of lightweight, transparent shapes with visible steel infrastructures after feeling challenged by the high price of some silk-covered Swedish lamps he sought for his office. Replacing the silk with a sprayable plastic resin created new design possibilities and a more affordable manufacturing process. The lamps were produced by the Herman Miller Clock Co. in Zeeland, MI. See photos for measurements and condition of the lamp. As with many of these vintage lamps, there is a bit of yellowing and grayish mottling to the shade itself. This is normal for vintage bubble lamps. Once hung, the lamp gives off a relaxing, soft glow; it is not harsh or too white.
