sheiladeila @fire_girl1 Hello, there! Brace yourself -- I left no stone unturned, lol! If the following looks too long, I would say compared to my Warner's No Side Effects bra, it's definitely a size smaller, identical underwire cup size -- C.

sheiladeila So, I pulled out all of my Soma bras and my measuring tape, and did a bit of measuring. My own personal measurement -- of my ribcage -- where the lowermost edge of the horizontal, supportive bra strap is 35-3/4" for the loosest, most comfortable fit I would expect from a least-restrictive yet supportive bra, like a bralette or well worn and comfy bra, and a 35-35-1/2 for a more snug fit, à la regular-fitting to a sports bra fit.

sheiladeila Truly, at a department store and lingerie shop fitting both, I was told I'm a true D -- but I don't fill a D -- at all. So from what I gather, I'm a D at the very bottom of the cup itself, C up top after breastfeeding, for total reference and comparison. I own one 36D that has ever fit with the scratchiest lace side straps ever.

sheiladeila I used to only wear Warner Cloud 9 or No Side Effects that wasn't doing much for my back's appearance after gaining 40ish pounds over a period of 5 years away from regular exercise and healthy eating. (I'm 5'4", 165lb., a size 14, and 50.)

sheiladeila All that being said, I read an article about shapewear that sang Soma's praises. My most comfortable 36C Soma is a older model/batch, bought already well-loved and WELL-worn Vanishing Back bra in 36C for a song, just to try the brand. I was sold! It supports a smooth, low-key look in t-shirts, no spillage, and doesn't make me "Whoof!" with relief upon its removal at night.

sheiladeila It measures 31" straight across that lowermost section of side strap from clasp to clasp (I didn't follow the underwire in my measurement), and I use the loosest clasp. Next I ordered a Soma 36C sports bra that I also cannot close that I haven't posted, but it hardly stretches, as it's made of an extremely taut material, and I don't fit those cups at ALL.

sheiladeila I followed with a later model 36C Vanishing Back -- also used, but not worn-looking at all, with a shorter, less brushed fabric-looking (and feeling -- kind of between felt and micro-fleece) clasp lining (that touches my back) and more of a dri-fit looking and feeling clasp. It measures 28" straight across, so it's much snugger, and there's definite spillage.

sheiladeila The Balconets I posted are BRAND new, also 28" straight across -- bear in mind, if you don't already own one, that the Vanishing Back material is supersupportive and superstretchy. The underwire cup size on all 3 bras are identical, so a true C across the board.

sheiladeila I've lost a few more pounds from when I received the Balconets, and can now close the one I tried, but it's too snug for me, and again with the spillage. Like I said, I'm thinking that these are true C's, and that my first one was an unfair comparison, being a different, older Vanishing Back fit, super-relaxed in every way including the underwires, hence the lack of spillage and extreme comfort in a 36C which I'd ONLY found in the Warners.

sheiladeila I have spent HOURS in MANY lingerie shops and departments trying for the right look and fit. Bear in mind that I'm 50, have gained and lost a goodly amount (40 and 20 lbs., respectively), and not a push-up bra person. I'm sorry this is so long, but I want to be thorough, because finding the perfect bra has really been something else for me.

sheiladeila I believe the side straps run a size small -- you can measure your own to compare. The material is beautiful, smooth, and maybe too much of a true C for me.

fire_girl1 @sheiladeila thank you so much for taking the time to be so descriptive about the fit , I appreciate your timely and honest answer, I would love these but I too have gained, so I will have to pass on these.

sheiladeila @fire_girl1 You're most welcome! Thanks for your patience to read through everything -- I've gotten a few great items, and a few most disappointing no-go's...I've just resumed walking with some lite jogging and yoga, but I'll never be interested in a va-va-voom lifted look. Feel free to look me up and/or follow me if you get around to losing! Take care and stay safe and well! 🌺

ckcaktpn Hi ! Will the bras fit 36 B and is the listing for 3 bras for $30? And they are all push up ?

sheiladeila @maela816 Hello -- I'm so sorry I missed you, it's truly been a wacky, wacky season...are you still in the market for a bra or two or three?

sheiladeila
sheiladeila @mommymochi15 Gee, it's hard for me to say -- have you been fitted at a Soma store? I've lost some weight, and they are still a no-go for me, cup or back. Do you own any other Somas? The price is per each.

maela816 Hi Miss Sheila,I think I was confused because I thought the price is $30 for the three bras, but I carefully read your post now and I saw it is $30 each, sorry. I appreciate greatly that you took the time to respond to my inquiry, and by the way you are a very dedicated and kind seller to explain with details to others about the bras and share the little struggles that comes with aging, and weight issues.

sheiladeila @maela816 Thanks for your reply, Cinthia -- feel free to follow and check back with me if anything changes -- I do have the one black sports bra if you're smaller, backstrap-wise, or don't mind using an extender, and one more beautiful new black full coverage Vanishing Back I need to post that fits just fine and looks great, but I find I just personally feel more comfortable in the older style of Vanishing Back for me -- maybe I just love already broken-in ones, idk lol!

sheiladeila
sheiladeila I also have 2 38C new but older-style Full Coverage's that are supercomfortable but the cups seem much bigger than the 36C's, which I have noticed across the board in any brand. They both fit supercomfortably, but I feel too busty in my clothes in them and I just really like a more low-profile look, so in my drawer they sit...and hope to get healthier and lose some of this extra weight, so they'll be up on the chopping block in time, too!

sheiladeila
sheiladeila @mommymochi15 Y'know, there is a product I was thinking of buying for $10 that sizes you for Soma bras that I considered before I found out that there is a local store here in SA where I live! That's how I found out my size...and that their bras deffo run smallll...
Oct 08Reply
sheiladeila
sheiladeila @mommymochi15 To answer your question, DEFINITELY -- no question about that! That's why they're called "Balconet" bras -- they give you a personal "Little Balcony" of your own!!
