LeRoy Neiman Limited Edition Promotional Post Card – BISTRO GARDEN 1987 I was a contract art dealer for LeRoy Neiman back in the 1980’s and every time he released a new serigraph, which was about once a month, we would receive a number of promotional post cards showing the new image. When these were gone they never printed any more. The full size serigraph of BISTRO GARDEN today sells for $4600. As part of his commissioned work, LeRoy was thrown into a more luxurious lifestyle in some of the finest restaurants in the world, which he admired and depicted with wide-eyed fasciation. During his culinary exploration, Neiman formed the belief that haute cuisine was not simply about the food but rather a type of theater. He sought to capture the various roles within this theater to comprise lively dining scenes. Bistro Garden was one of Neiman's favorite restaurants.
