What does it mean sewn together pleats?

@13tashalane I usually think of pleats opening as they go down to the hem, but these are the opposite: open and flowier above, sewn together at the hem. There is a photo of the hem with the closed pleats. I was trying to describe this in the listing, but maybe I just made it confusing.
