Midge and Baby fashion pack The "Happy Family" Midge doll from Mattel sparked quite a bit of controversy when it was released in 2002. The doll featured Midge, Barbie's best friend, as pregnant with a detachable baby bump. Many parents were concerned that this doll promoted teen pregnancy or single motherhood, as Midge was depicted as being too young to have children. The backlash was significant enough that some retailers, like Walmart, decided to pull the doll from their shelves. None have been removed from their boxes and they have been stored in a climate controlled dark environment. Only two of the boxes show any wear and I have shown pictures of the minimal damage.
