cocoatel @elliej00322 thank you! I really like the jacket but when I measured my similar Barbour that is a good fit, my current US size 12 Barbour is 19. 1/2 inches arm pit to armpit. I am confused that your jacket at 17 1/2 is so much smaller- as the style is almost the same. I have several Barbours in different styles as I lived in the UK for eleven years. Did you purchase this jacket in the US? Sorry for all the questions. I really liked the jacket but I think it will be too small.
