Barneys New York Charm. Barneys New York Inc. was an American luxury department store brand founded in New York City in 1923. It introduced major luxury brands including Armani, Azzedine Alaia, Comme des Garçons, Christian Louboutin, and Ermenegildo Zegna to the US market. Authentic Brands Group, which bought the brand and licensed it to Saks in North America, will open its first standalone Barneys at Saks location in Greenwich, Connecticut, on January 25. The 14,000-square-foot store will offer both men's and women's goods. Barneys is an exclusive department store known for having some of the sharpest and most expensive clothing items from the world's top luxury brands.
