Hi I have a sea world hat
vxxv
@pbjfox not just any Sea World Hat, that’s a Shamu original 1st edition. I may be wrong, but some say Shamu was the inspiration behind the Free Willy movement.
pbjfox
@95streamz do you got anymore information on it I couldn’t find much
vxxv
@pbjfox Shamu was a killer whale that appeared in shows at SeaWorld San Diego in the mid/late 1960s. She was the fourth orca ever captured, and the second female. She was caught in October 1965 and died in August 1971, after about six years of performance.
pbjfox
@95streamz but does this hat have any correlation to that
vxxv
@pbjfox it’s your hat I was hoping you could tell me more about it? Orcas are considered the largest species of the dolphin family of that helps.
vxxv
Also orcas in captivity have trouble keeping their dorsal fins erect, which lead to self-image issues more so in the male orca than it does in the female.
vxxv
@pbjfox My apologies, where you talking about my shirt or your hat? I have plenty of information on this shirt
pbjfox
@95streamz I was just wondering what year my hat was made
vxxv
I'm no Shamu expert, nor am I a hat expert by any means. I do think you are spot on with the mid 1990's guess....tuck straps with slide buckle hats came out about then, 1994 if I remember correctly.
I was always more of a snap-back hat adjustment guy, it was just quicker and easier. Also I thought they looked "cool" backwards (Secret- I still do think they look cool backwards)
Do you have any more hats? Or Seaworld related items we could chat about?
