For sale, a very unique and rare Wedgwood Sterling Silver set of Earrings and Pendant (with Sterling Necklace). Combined weight of lot: 14.6 Grams Necklace Length: 18" Type: Box, Sterling Silver, Hallmarked Italy (country of origin) and 925 (Sterling Silver, 92.5% pure silver) This necklace is not associated with the Wedgwood brand - its a normal (not old) Sterling Silver necklace. The Pendant and Earrings carry the following Hallmarks FAW - Designer, F.A. Welch from Liverpool, England. From the 1950s to the 1970s he set Wedgwood cameos in Sterling Silver. In the 1970s he sold Merseyside Jewelers, the company he created to make this jewelry, to Wedgwood, and he then became a jewelry consultant to Wedgwood. Lion - The symbol of .925 Sterling Silver, London Assay Mark Sword between 3 wheat sheaves - Chester (1784 to 1962) L - Date letter, with the the 3 wheat sheaves, showing 1961 as the manufacture year. 61 and 62 - Refers to the item catalogue number of the time, Wedgwood. The black Wedgwood is referred to as Basaltes Wedgwood, called so by Josiah Wedgwood, referring to black Basalt volcanic rock. The woman standing next to an anchor means: A woman in Hope.
