Needs calibration. This was willed to me as part of a division of an estate, but it’s just been sitting in storage for the past decade. Chalet Cuckoo Clocks depict themes common in the Black Forest region of Germany and Alpine farming lifestyles of Schwarzwald. These clocks are more than any run-of-the-mill clock, or even a standard cuckoo clock, for that matter. These clocks are timeless pieces of art that look pulled out of a fairy tale. Indeed, the clocks themselves often show vignettes that have their origins in the tales and culture of the Black Forest. Scenes may include ornate and elaborate bands playing music for the dancing figures that move past them, or they may show a quieter scene of a water mill and the old man who maintains it (all while townsfolk move and play in the background). There is no end to the variety of these clocks because no two chalet cuckoo clocks are the same. Each has unique details that are consigned to that clock and no other: each clock is a work of art.
