Beautiful John Melkonian 2002 Raku Studio Pottery Iridescent Rimmed Round Vase This is a Beautiful John Melkonian 2002 Raku Studio Pottery Iridescent Rimmed Round Vase. The bulk of the vase is fired in Raku style (where part of the piece is immersed into sawdust or paper while it is still red hot from the kiln and creates a rough, matted surface) and in contrast the top part has an iridescent glossy glaze with a mossy green interior. Raku firing requires precision and knowledge of what temperatures and materials will produce the best and most interesting results, which John Melkonian is well known for. The vase measures approximately 6" high by 6" wide and is in great condition with no visible anomalies. It is signed by the artist JOHN MELKONIAN 07 on the underside of the vase. This vase would be a wonderful accent to any creative, bohemian and eclectic environment.
