The plate was made in Copenhagen, Denmark in 1982 and is perfect for Christmas display or Christmas gift. This Christmas plate is a must-have for anyone who loves to collect decorative Christmas or Danish items and is a great gift for anyone.
The plate designed by Henry Thelander. The plate depicts two children carrying the family Christmas tree home, after having chosen and cut it in the woods. The tradition of going to the woods to pick your own tree is still used in many Danish families. The tradition of having a Christmas tree in the living room is not a very old one. In Denmark the first Christmas tree was heard of in 1808 at the manor Holstenborg, and not until the end of World War 1, it became a common sight in Danish middle class homes to have a Christmas tree.
