This antique hardcover book, titled "Biographical Encyclopedia Of Dauphin County Pennsylvania - Containing Sketches of Prominent and Representative Citizens and Many of the early Scotch-Irish and German Setllers" is a treasure trove of historical information about Pennsylvania. Published in the 1890s by JM Runk and Co, it contains biographical and genealogical information about notable people in the area. The book is in vintage condition with ex libris markings and is written in English. It is a valuable addition to any history or genealogy collection and is sure to provide insight into the lives of German and Scotch-Irish settlers in Pennsylvania. This nonfiction narrative is a must-have for those interested in Dauphin County, Pennsylvania history and genealogy. Published in 1896 -- true antique! (Not a reprint.) Faceplate states that this book was in the collection of the Historical society of Pennsylvania, with a withdrawn stamp. It was given to the historical society by Dr. William Egle on Aug. 18, 1897 and the book was rebound in August 1962. There is a stamp that says DUPLICATE, March 21, 1995 on the following page. A few of the pages seem to have been cut and repasted but most seem to be intact originals. All portraits are printed on glossy paper and have protective tissue paper in front of them. Book is 1,196 pages long -- quite extensive! Includes many portraits and family histories. Very rare!
