Chanel Inspiration from Andrew Arkur! This exquisitely-made formal skirt suit is elegance in 3 pieces. From the 50s but still a classic. Black velvet & satin charmeuse (shortened, to keep up with rising hemlines--1 photo shows what it would have looked like in the 50s) pencil skirt suit, no older than 1955, no newer than 1962, but there's much about this that says it's more 50s than 60s. Black rayon velvet (not velveteen) & ivory satin charmeuse. Underdress with lined pencil skirt, taffeta top & metal zipper. Cap sleeve blouse, cropped with 2 notches trimmed w/bows, metal zipper in back. No shoulder seams, gusseted underarms, wide scoop neck with snaps in shoulders to hold slip straps in place. Bracelet sleeve jacket, trimmed with braid (a la Chanel, but this is not a Chanel item), shoulder pads, faux pockets, lined in ivory charmeuse. Amazing passementerie buttons, no shoulder seams, gusseted underarms. Lots of photos, please check all of them. There's a cardboard tag with writing in the jacket, making this look like it was custom made. Blouse & jacket make great SEPARATES!
