Bonnie Cashin for Coach Large Lunch Bag Tote Tan Harness Leather Vintage 60s HTF

Preowned, vintage Bonnie Cashin for Coach 'lunch bag' tote, likely made in the 1960s. Made from a smooth tan harness leather, it's shaped like a paper bag and designed to fold flat for storage! The interior is lined in Cashin's signature striped lining and features one flat zip pocket inside. A delightful bag, designed by the mother of American sportswear, Bonnie Cashin! Cashin is known for her innovative yet stylish aesthetic, and incorporated unique design elements, like brass turn locks and dog-leash clasps within her work. Her pieces were incredibly practical and designed for women who were on-the go - from bags that folded flat for storage within a larger bag or luggage, to skirt hitches and "purse pocket" jackets! Bonnie Cashin made several iterations of this style, and this is the larger size, which measures approximately 8in H x 8in L x 5in D with a 6.5in handle drop. Please note that image 5 shows this bag with a smaller version in Mimosa, not included in this sale but being sold separately. Made in the USA. Pre-creed, it features the black 'Coach' logo on a metal tag. Preowned, vintage (50+ years old) with signs of age, use & prior wear: fingernail scratches, color variation and some small marks/spots to exterior (see images 1, 5-9 and 12); one small stitch is popped on a corner seam (last image); the interior shows some darkening & small spots (image 12 & 13). All-in-all, this is a wonderful example of Bonnie Cashin's work and still displays nicely!
