Book: Cloud Cuckoo Land by Anthony Doerr

Cloud Cuckoo Land is a 2021 speculative fiction novel by Pulitzer Prize winner Anthony Doerr. The story follows five protagonists across time, from 1400s Constantinople to a future spaceship, who are all captivated by a fictional comic allegory called “Cloud Cuckoo Land”. The allegory is about a foolish shepherd who transforms into a donkey, fish, and crow to reach a utopian sky paradise called Cloud Cuckoo Land, but ultimately chooses to return home.
