Hardback novel, 1971. 312 pages, deckled edges. Includes a biographical note with some of Plath's lovely and remarkable illustrations.
Good-to-acceptable vintage condition. No dust jacket. One light stain on the edge. There's a crack between a couple of pages and the spine's a bit wonky, but everybody in there is still hanging on tight! See pics for flaws.
This is semi-autobiographical, Plath's only novel, and was first published under a pseudonym less than a month before Plath's tragic death at age 30.
"Esther Greenwood is brilliant, enormously talented, and successful, but she is slowly going under—and maybe for the last time. Sylvia Plath draws the reader into Esther's breakdown with an intensity that penetrates into the darkest and most harrowing corners of the human psyche, The Bell Jar is an extraordinary accomplishment and a haunting American classic."
I don't remember what I paid for this copy but this edition sold for $7 in 1971 (which would be $55 today) so I went with that for "original price." I did my best to price this reasonably (vintage books are tricky, aren't they!) but I didn't want to overthink it and offers are always welcome :)
