Kelly Barnhill's book that received the 2017 Newbery Medal. Fantasy fiction book for children 10 and up, though I really enjoyed reading it as an adult! The Girl Who Drank the Moon tells the story of Luna, a baby sacrificed to the forest witch Xan. However, Xan is a kind woman who rescues the babies and finds them new homes. When she accidentally feeds Luna moonlight instead of starlight, Luna becomes imbued with magic. Xan raises Luna with the help of a tiny dragon named Fyrian and the swamp monster Glerk. Like new.
