Unusual excellent condition carved wood elephant bookends created during World War II by a Senegal Native. Note they are not a "perfect" pair. No marks whatsoever, they were prized possessions kept in a case.
*My father served for a time in Africa during WWII and formed friendships with several natives when they drew a shark away from the area he was swimming in (between dad & the shore!). He purchased a number of handmade items from them in deep gratitude, and these were his favorite.*
