British, Scottish Highland  Officers Basket-Hilted Broadsword 18th Century

This is a very rare sword available today, complete with its brown leathered field scabbard in excellent condition despite the age. The blade in good condition with some tarnish. This basket-hilted was developed in the 16th century and became popular in the 17th century. Used in heavy calvary up to the Napoleonic era. It also know as a 'Britain's War in Europe' & 'Revolution War' sword. These styles sword were issued by the Board of Ordnance to British regiments mainly with Scottish associations and were manufactured in the traditional Scottish style. See pictures for more details.
