The BB '346' line dates at least as far back as 1960, pre-outlet.
346 stands for the street number of the original Brook Brothers store. It was used for labeling garments from their outlets now just called Brooks Brothers Outlets.
Brooks 346 was the middle-priced clothing line between the Brooks Own Make and the Brooks University (later named Brooksgate) lines. It was geared toward the "young executive" and most of the clothing was made either by Southwick, H. Freeman & Son, Norman Hilton (which usually was superior to the more expensive "Own Make") or Hertling.
