how do these run? compared to your normal tennis shoe size?

I think they run small. So, my girls wore them once for their dance recital and I think it was bigger than their usual shoe size. This is what it says on the website "Women begin a 1/2 size up from street shoe size. Men begin 2.5 " My daughter was a street shoe size 6 and wore the 8.
