A VERY rare vintage find! This is a 9.5” decorative plate from Fürstenberg, a German porcelain company founded in 1747.
The plate has a white background and beautiful brown picture of Hannover (note the very decorative script). The picture contains farmland, horses, wooded landscape, a castle and cottages. Very quaint. The image and surrounding filigree are in excellent condition for a vintage piece. The plate has no chips, cracks or visible crazing. See pictures for details and feel free to ask for more if you’d like.
The back of the plate has a hanging mechanism. The blue stamp reads Fürstenberg F2 (with a crown)
Seit 1747 West-Germany.
I am not a porcelain expert so I cannot date this more specifically, however West Germany only existed between 1949 and 1990. Given the quality of the hanging mechanism, I’d say it was on the newer end.
This particular plate is nearly impossible to find. There are many, many sets of coasters as well as plates with simple images and plainer backgrounds but I have not found another just like this.
A lovely and unique home decor piece.
