Vintage Calabash African Art, Made in Kenya 11 inches tall 34 inches in circumference 1.5 inches opening at the mouth All measurements are approximate. As I've done research for this piece, I have yet to come across another one with the metal detailing. A rare find! Calabash is a multifaceted natural product made from gourd-like fruit tree. While the gourd grows in various shapes, only round shaped gourds are processed into calabash. The final product once processed, can be used as bowls, cups and jugs. They are used during traditional religious ceremonies. Lastly, they are used as decorative pieces; particularly, palace & royal ceremonies. Does not include any props in photos.
