The longest strand is 24" long. Jackie Kennedy acquired the original necklace in 1958 when her husband, John F. Kennedy, was a senator. She went on to wear it while she lived in the White House. As First Lady, she wore it on notable occasions, such as when she greeted heads of state and attended the gala celebrating the official kickoff of the 1960 presidential campaign. To match the periwinkle color of the original necklace, Camrose & Kross used Brazilian sodalite beads.
