Castleton Cina was manufactured in New Castle, PA by the Shenango company. Fearing that impending war would put them out of business, German china manufacturer Rosenthal partnered with Shenango (as did Haviland for the same reason), to produce their designs in the US under the Castleton China brand. After World War II, Shenango bought out Rosenthal’s share of the partnership, continuing to produce china under the Castleton name. Castleton China was a popular choice for brides in the 50's and 60's. The classic designs and quality production are testimony to this American company that is no more.
