@boydlands I'm so sorry I missed your message. We were traveling back to Florida. When I measured across the back - armpit to armpit- I get approximately 20.5 inches. Measuring across the front - armpit to armpit - it measures approximately 19.5. The front is made to be left open and does not have fasteners, button or zipper.
