Chinese Quing Dynasty Hetian Jade Incense Burner

During the Chinese Quing Dynasty the censer or incense burner was used to burn incense. These burners were crafted from a variety of materials. Its main purpose would be of worship or to create a pleasant smell for rituals, ceremonies, and daily life. This antique Chinese censer or incense burner came from the renowned gallery (Potala Palace) several years ago. The exact age of the incense burner is unknown; however, the characteristic of this burner indicates that it an antique piece, probably from the mid to late Chinese Quing Dynasty (1644-1795). This beautiful incense burner is a stunning piece of Chinese artistry. It is a mini kiln, meaning that it was fired in a kiln. "Mini" meaning small. The base and feet of the burner are Hetian Jade, featuring many etched symbols and designs. It appears that three mystical creatures surround the outer burner. They are of varying colors and appear to be dragons chasing one another. If they are not mystical creatures, but rather depicting everyday life it is certainly symbolic of its time. The Hetian Jade feet have the appearance of Foo Dog feet. The lid is beautifully etched Hetian Jade featuring etched symbols and designs. A Hetian Jade ring holder and Hetian Jade Ring are finely crafted on top the lid. The inside lid and inside base of the burner is a smooth Hetian Jade.
