This exquisite gown dates back to 1910/20. It is an heirloom from the famous Lee family. Joseph Jenkins Wilcox Lee was Envoy Extraordinary and minister Plenipotentiary from 1905-07. He was a direct decendant to Thomas Sim Lee. His daughter Eleanora O'Donnell Lee, who wore this gown, married into the Marshall family. Her husband was Thomas Hartley Marshall, who was a direct decendant to Chief Justice John Marshall.
It features delicate lace throughout and the sleeves at the wrist. The long ties at the waist also feature the delicate lace. The tiny buttons and satin ties are so darling.
It is in incredible condition. Has a few faint spots, one tiny pin hole, and a place where the lace needs to be mended at a seam.
The bonnet ties in the front and in the back. The back ties cinch it for a comfortable fit.
