Why does the box say a size 41?

The confusion I have is size 41 being equivalent to a 9. I wear a 9/39.5 so I just need a little clarification here. I absolutely love the boots but need to make sure this is accurate about the size. Do the bottom of the boot actually say 41 or just the box?
