msbela @alanis779 we gave this set to one of our sons for his birthday one year. Back when the books 1st came out. I did not realize at that time there was a fourth book being written by the Young author. I got nearly finished with the third book and realized there is no way the story can be reconciled by the end of this third book. And then I realized there was a fourth! Ha ha so when it was finally released, we got it for our son as well.

alanis779 @msbela That's excellent! It's great to hear when families create a reading culture at home. Academic success always starts with family. I was an English and Reading teacher for 15 years. Students had better chances for academic success when parents were meaningfully involved in the learning process.

msbela @alanis779 💝 I learned how enjoyable reading was when I was very young! With my two boys…first toys were books… read an hour each night before bed!

msbela We would argue now as to who enjoyed that more! Homeschooled them. My oldest started mid fourth grade( medical issues from a concussion warranted it! My youngest started the following year beginning 2nd grade

alanis779 @msbela Yes! I always taught my students the idea of: for every action there's a reaction. It's not just science. It's inevitable!! The sun sets, the sun rises, you breathe in you breathe out, the deeper you breathe in the more you breathe out. It's the same with reading and writing. The deeper you read, the deeper you write. The research also shows that people who read more have better chances of success with careers, relationships, and so on in life.

msbela @alanis779 💝 Absolutely! Those who do not read much or have desires to learn, seem to be flailing through life…uninformed…needing intellectual assistance from those who do! Life is a beautiful adventure! The more you read, the more you understand. The more you understand, the more you appreciate, and want to share….on ALL levels of life!

msbela @alanis779 I have an eight yr old grandniece who is reading grades above her age! I profusely encourage that! Our conversations! People listen and watch our animations! I am teaching her as much ASL as possible, as we go! ❤️ She’s a SPONGE! -a happy, confident, adventurous, intelligent sponge!

msbela Her parents are awesome! As she snaps up knowledge, they are offering more and more! Her uncle (my nephew) spends a great deal of time doing artwork with her, as well as, teaching her things pertaining to his world, which girls usually don’t get! She wants to know EVERYTHING! It’s a blessing to witness!

alanis779 @msbela That's so fantastic that she gets so much support from the family. Teachers take a bad rap for kids that don't perform well. I think a lot has to do with family support. Without that I don't care how good a teacher is. Students have a much harder time succeeding when they don't have the support of a caring and loving family.
