This pair of opera glasses was created in Paris by Chevalier. There is a wheel in the center to allow you to focus.
The Chevalier family were prominent opticians in Paris, whose business was founded in 1765. Charles Chevalier was involved in the early development of the camera! His work was recognized at both the 1855 and 1878 Paris International Expositions, and he was awarded 13 medals,
The business continued into the 1920’s…This is very valuable piece of history, and a real collector’s item.
Condition:
Not perfect, but commensurate with age and frequent use by it’s owner back in the day.
