Collectible Vintage Mug Anchor Hocking Fire King Kimberly Diamond Ombre Gold/Yellow and Brown. Oven Safe. Maker's mark on the bottom of the mugs Textured diamond pattern on the outside and an ombre effect with a brown/bronze color at the top fading down to yellow. Good vintage condition with some scratches to the finish. Stamped Oven Proof Made in USA with an anchor symbol on the bottom. Microwave safe. Not recommended for the dishwasher to preserve the outside finish. 3 1/2 inches tall by 4 inches wide (including handle) by 3 inches deep. “Fire-King Oven Glass” was produced as a result of World War II. Metal that was traditionally used for household items like baking dishes and utensils was conserved for war efforts, like the manufacture of planes and tanks. Anchor Hocking’s answer was Fire-King. Glass bakeware designed to withstand high heat on the stove and in the oven, which essentially replaced the need for metal pots and pans. Over 3,000 Anchor Hocking employees joined the army and fought in World War II. After the war 80% of those veterans returned to work for Anchor Hocking.
