Comfrey should never be taken by mouth or applied to cuts or open wounds. It is used on the skin to reduce inflammation. Comfrey has been used to heal bruises, pulled muscles and ligaments, fractures, sprains, and osteoarthritis. The substances in Comfrey help skin regrow. Do not give to children by mouth or apply to skin. Limit use on skin to 4 to 6 weeks a year and no more than 10 consecutive days in a row. You can simply put the leaves on the skin or use a poultice.
