Create a Fun Holiday Table without being matchy matchy!

One of my first jobs was in a gift shop that catered to couples with ridiculous wedding registries. This experience was the foundation of my love for collecting china and during that time, I learned how to mix and match patterns of all types. I've taken that experience to heart and always combine patterns with one another. This item is a wonderful example of that concept. By combining the new and the old or the cheap and expensive, you create a casual atmosphere which is appealing to everyone at your table. Pictured together and sold as a set are these four vintage Corelle dinner plates and salad/dessert plates from Sur La Table. They are vastly different in material and character, but I think they work well. The Corelle dishes have more wear and tear on them simply because of their age; the Christmas tree plates were just bought in the past couple of years and have been used once or twice.
