The tradition of ceramics from Cuenca, Ecuador starts around 1500 B.C. Later during the colonial period, Cuenca maintained a leading position as a center for ceramic artistry. This legacy has been reinforced in recent years though the enthusiastic participation of reknown contemporary artists and decorators who have added prestige to the ceramics from Cuenca. Today, the name Crespo is a symbol of this tradition in ceramics, due to the collaboration of Pablo and Pedro Crespo. These two brothers have made possible to produce high quality artistic and decorative ceramics with the Crespo signature."
