NOT YOUR MAMA’S CRAFTY EASTER BASKET. THIS ONE-OF-A-KIND, HAND MADE BY ARTIST A “HELENA HAND BASKET.” Cute, right!? There is no glue and no wire. The baskets are held together by tension alone, thus their knarled and natural state. This is a conversation piece, but the artist doesn’t intend to imply the world has gone to hell in a hand basket, per say. This LIMITED EDITION piece was named for Helena, mother of Emperor Constantine. She is said to have led an excavation, discovering the true cross, then dispersing pieces of it among all of Christendom. Helena Hand baskets have become popular recently, as they are rare for being labor intensive. Sourcing the materials requires climbing and hiking. Only a few are produced each season!
