Drapers Self Recording Thermometer (hangs on the wall)
In relief/raised letters, on the front section, just under the glass area, it reads:
152 Front St.,
N.Y. City
Patented 1887
Time recorder PAPER sheet included (as found/shown) with a copyright of 1888 by the Draper company, round, Chart No. 5 - Drapers Thermometer, Observed week ending _______, 19__. Shows days of the week, times, etc. Blank/believe unused.
There are “inner workings“, but I have no idea how OR if this works. Selling as a decorative piece only.
Overall, this is approx 14” high at the tallest point, 10 1/2” at the widest & 4 3/4” deep.
CONDITION: Paper dial good with usual overall light toning, wear, discoloration/soiling. Paper does not appear to have ever been used, and it’s not often that you find these with a paper dial unused/included. It does have the “lever“/arm. I don’t see a pen, although it does appear to have a stylus that touches the paper? No idea how that would work. I do see inner workings through the mesh (on the back), and also when you look down into the base. No idea how it works or if it works. Came off wall of a Pennsylvania warehouse turned antique shop. Case good with usual overall wear & oxidation to metal, and wear to gilt highlights. Repaint?
You’ll always find imperfections & wear with any vintage piece. SEE PIX for general idea., but photos won’t ever include every issue. 💯 AS IS. Don’t know exact age, origin OR materials. See ALL pix, many close-ups. Questions? Just ask.
