Davis Miller Mid Century Original Oil Painting Nude Woman Mother Holding Sleeping Baby Signed and Dated 1963
NO FRAME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I find this painting so captivating. It was painted at a time not many artists would venture into nude paintings and it shows a beautiful, natural mother lovingly holding her baby against her soft skin.
Who was Davis Miller? 1917 to 20012
Davis Miller, a great artist and beloved teacher who endeared himself to the South Bay art community by educating generations of students from a small studio in his Manhattan Beach home.
Known for his jovial sense of humor and patience in the classroom, Miller was beloved for his ability to help students develop dramatic oil painting techniques.
“He was a brilliant teacher,” said Betty Ottinger, a longtime student. “He would be so positive, always inspiring students to continue their creations.”
Born June 24, 1917, in Portland, Maine, Miller first began painting as a child. He was enamored with ancient Greek mythology, and spent hours sketching pictures of the mythical gods he saw in books.
”Miller studied at the New England Institute for Art in Boston and at the Maine College of Art in his native Portland.
But a life dedicated to art would have to wait. After finishing school, Miller enlisted in the Army. He served in a heavy artillery unit during the Battle of the Bulge, narrowly escaping death while standing in the face of one of the largest military offensives of World War II.

@monkstowngirl Firsty, I truly wish I could ship it with it's frame. Unfortunately, it would be greatly over Poshmark's 10 pound weight limit. We create a double box for it and reinforce that with bubble wrap etc so it doesn't lose it's shape. Thanks so much for inquiring. <3

@monkstowngirl I forgot to mention that it is a stretched canvas on a wood frame...just the outer frame can not be sent.
