Decorative Art: Native Hopi Indian carving/painted by Hopi Indians CJ Prophett.

This Vintage piece is approx 22” X 11.5” rectangular shaped and carved out of old growth wood, and hand painted using traditional Indian painting methods.,The artist is Hopi Indian CJ profit, who was also a well-known storyteller. The pieces of usual because of two reasons. It is larger than the usual gourds and bowls usually seen from this artist, as well as depicts a turtle rather than the usual land animal which is seen in a lot of his art. It’s a very cool piece, and I love the raw carved back, as well as rough front. A very traditional use of colorful designs. Simplistic, and not overstated. I love this particular piece and I hope you do as well. Many of his works end up in auction and bid very well. Heart seems to be the only thing that in this economy is actually appreciating. So it’s a good investment either way, particularly since it’s a Native American art. 20% of my personal art collection is Native American Indian, I not only love the designs but I also love the spirituality aspect. One with nature…..much like Japanese art….
