Doncaster, Classic Black Skirt, Size 1W, NWOT

This is a new, without the tags skirt that I bought right before I decided to retire. It's never been worn and is from a non-smoking home. Doncaster was a designer and manufacturer of clothes and accessories that were offered to women at private shows. This company was in business for 87 years and produced higher end women's clothing with finishes that we don't see with most "off the rack" clothing. Doncaster produced "Town & Country" type clothing that was classic with a modern twist, polished and sophisticated. This skirt is a classic black skirt that can be perfect for meetings, church, work or dressed up with a fancier blouse/jacket because the fabrication is fluid and more like a crepe. Although there is some "give" in the waist, it isn't gathered and bunchy...the waist should fit close to the body and flatter than one would see on most gathered or elasticized waists. This skirt is very versatile and I consider it a wardrobe staple. Due to the fabrication, this piece would travel well.
