The Brenham meteorite is a stony-iron meteorite that fell to Earth near Haviland, Kansas, about 20,000 years ago. It is a rare pallasite meteorite that is made up of about half metallic components and half olivine crystals.  Discovery and significance The Brenham meteorite is associated with the Haviland Meteorite Crater, one of only three craters in the U.S. that have been confirmed to be caused by meteorites.  The Brenham meteorite is known worldwide and is on display in major museums.  The largest fragment of the Brenham meteorite found to date weighs 650 kilograms and is in a private collection.  The Brenham meteorite is believed to have been used by Native Americans to make iron knives, chisels, buttons, jewelry, and beads.
