From the 2015 collaboration between Dr. Martens and the Sir John Soane’s Museum. From their website:
“This capsule collection is based off of 17th century artist William Hogarth’s most famous series ‘A Rake’s Progress’. […] ‘A Rake’s Progress’ is a satirical depiction of the rise and fall of Tom Rakewell, a country boy who inherits a fortune. Having gambled it away and squandered it on debauched evenings, he marries a rich one-eyed woman. Once again he loses his fortune in a gambling house, becomes imprisoned for debt and eventually dies from madness in the notorious Bedlam asylum.”
These Pascals depict the gambling house scene. And of course I must mention: “Rakewell” is a pun, as a “rake” is a young man who gives in to the temptations of vice. These are a great shoe for the discerning and fashionable nerd.
