What's the deal with sizing and comfort? Would this work for a 5'9" woman? What's the support on the bottom of the pack like? I have a very long backpacking trip coming up (~5 months) and I'm hoping to find a durable pack to last the whole time. Are there customer reviews somewhere?
Oct 14Reply

duratongear
@julesngems5 This pack fits both men and women from about 5'2” to 6'0". You can find reviews on Amazon and a video review by The Minnesota Dad on YouTube. Pack is made with 420D RipStop Nylon and is very durable. However because this is a frameless light weight pack, I wouldn't load it with more then 30-40lbs. Let me know if you have other questions.

julesngems5
@duratongear thank you! I just found out someone ordered me a pack as a gift for my time abroad but it is a much lower quality one (probably) so I'll test that out once I get it and if it doesn't work out I'll be back!

Hi. Do you make 90 l rucksack? Want to replace the one I had in Spain by quechea
Oct 28Reply

duratongear
@paulinaco Sorry, at this time we only have the 50L. We may have some larger packs launching next year.

What’s the weight?

@calicante 2.5lbs

Hi! Can you talk to me about the foam used on the back support part? Is it similar to Kelty’s?
Jan 01Reply

duratongear
@suzannepenelope Hey Suzanne! I honestly can't speak to how Kelty makes their padding but we use half inch High Density Foam back with light TPU. The TPU gives the pack some rigidity without adding the weight of a frame.

How many of the orange do you have in stock? I want to purchase in a couple months for a trip later this year
Jan 30Reply

duratongear
@alreakayy At this moment, I only have 3 left in stock. I am getting my next shipment at the end of February and should have a ton more then.

Thank you! Will come back to this :)

I couldn’t find the review on youTube. Can you give me a link? This is a great price and a great weight. Also, I am a small torso. Does it adjust?
Feb 09Reply

duratongear
@rosemcnab The pack fits torsos from 13.5" to 19.5" (~5'1" to ~6'0"). Here is the link to our youtube video. I hope poshmark lets me post it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=90wksa8M63Y
Feb 09Reply

duratongear
@rosemcnab Sorry. I should clarify. Its not "our video." This was a video review done by "The Minnesota Dad."
Feb 09Reply

artsywomen
@duratongear yes, I did understand that. I just couldn’t find it when I searched. I will watch the review. Thank you so much. I am hiking the PCT with my dog going SOBO. I haven’t chosen my pack yet.
Feb 09Reply

artsywomen
@duratongear how is it possible that it fits so many people?
Feb 09Reply

duratongear
@rosemcnab It has enough shoulder strap adjustment to adjust about 5" which translates to a broader total height adjustment. At the end of the day it's all about comfort which is relative. The optimal fit is 16" torso.
Feb 09Reply

duratongear
@rosemcnab Wow that's quite a hike. This pack is best for day hikes or weekend camping/hiking trips. For extreme hiking and camping you may needed a larger framed pack.

@duratongear LOL! No, I am not carrying my house. I have done lots of week hikes with only a 36 liter. I love my Gregory 36, it fits everything I need for a week. Most ultra-lighters are going with 50 liter to 60 liter. I originally had a 70 liter. I am looking at a base weight of under 10 pounds because of the variety of terrains and tools, and water I will need. My concern is fit, weight and durability here.
Feb 09Reply

artsywomen
@duratongear is the pack durable enough for an extended hike? The Osprey or Gregory have been used extensively. I realize you are a new company, so you might not know? Is the material the same as the bigger brands?
Feb 09Reply

artsywomen
@duratongear how much weight will it comfortably carry?
Feb 09Reply

artsywomen
@duratongear sorry for all of the questions. I like the philosophy of your company and would like to support you.
Feb 09Reply

duratongear
@rosemcnab No problem at all. We make our pack with 420D Nylon and most other packs (Osprey and Gregory) use 600D Polyester. While they have a slightly higher threadcount, Nylon is a stronger material than Polyester. I have some 3rd party test results that show the 420D Nylon is actually stronger than 600D Polyester. The pack is technically rated to 40lbs but I would keep it below 30lbs for extended hikes.

@duratongear hi there! Very impressed with the bag. Does it come with a rain cover?
May 06Reply

duratongear
@ckirsch53 Yes it does.
May 06Reply

ckirsch53
@duratongear thanks so much! I recommend adding that info to the images as that is a big selling point since not all include one. Great price! I'm going to order one on Amazon :)
May 06Reply

duratongear
@ckirsch53 Great call out! Thank you. I'll work on getting an image up shortly.

vanessauhrhahn
Do these backpacks have a plastic frame/skeleton of some kind to keep it close to the spine and stop it from sagging?
Aug 09Reply

duratongear
@vanessauhrhahn Great question. I backed the half inch high density foam padding with TPU. This TPU gives the pack some rigidity while minimizing weight. Pack will not sag.
Aug 09Reply

vanessauhrhahn
@duratongear thank you!!

closet_finds__
Do you bags that fit better for someone who is 4’10
Aug 30Reply

duratongear
@closet_finds__It fits best on people who are taller than 5', however my 10 year old son also uses one of these for scouts and it works just fine..... It's just a little big on him.

caseya85
hi, I am a new hiker, and need a pack of my own, I am 5'0, would this be too big for me? or a good size?
Sep 24Reply

duratongear
@caseya85 You are right at the bottom end of our sizing chart. This pack should fit you fine but if not I'd be happy to issue you a refund.
Sep 24Reply

1963izzy
Is this considered a rigid backpack?
Feb 12Reply

duratongear
@1963izzy it is frameless however I added TPU and high density foam to the back to give it rigidity

adenas222
Would this make a good pack for search and rescue? I need it to be very durable but not super heavy. Probably for between 24 and 48 hours worth of equipment.
Mar 04Reply

duratongear
@adenas222 This is perfect for SAR. Its tough and light weight. You won't be disappointed.
